READING
Reading is a receptive skill. This means that reading is a process in which you do not produce but receive, deal with and understand a language. Reading is one of the most important skills in our daily life. We often need to read signs, instructions, news articles or other written information. However, reading is not only focus on its functional purpose. Reading is also a lot of fun and a way of relaxing!
Benefits of Simplified Readers
- Read for enjoyment. Reading is not difficult once you find your level.
- If you read 15-20 books at your level, you should be ready to move on to the next level.
- Simplified readers help you move vocabulary from your short-term to your long-term memory.
- When you read at your level, it becomes possible to guess the meaning of new words.
- Words are often repeated in new contexts. This gives you a deeper understanding of their meaning.
- Seeing the same words in new contexts also gives you a better feel for which words are often used together.
- What a fun way to learn vocabulary and gain understanding of English sentence patterns!
